With Neftaly Pineiro on lead guitar, this is a recording of mambos, cha cha chas etc. Early 1960s New York combo with a solid and very popular sound playing pachangas, mambos etc.. Unusual in that their sound includes an electric guitar to the fore. Their lineup expanded to several more members as the occasion demanded. Several members of La Playa would go on to form the nucleus of the Eddie Palmieri Orquesta.
